She studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York and Adelphi College. As an actress and singer, she did leading and featured rolls on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, television, and commercials.
For six years, Jo owned Wilder Place on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, a gift gallery featuring unique works by local and foreign artisans. She earned rave reviews and her shop was called an “artistic triumph" by Los Angeles Magazine.
